Full Spectrum Doula Training Scholarships
In 2020, while we were all in lock-down, I was training to become a licensed Doula Trainings International, doula educator. I was selected by DTI to be in their first nationwide cohort of doula educators. Their mission of reproductive justice and radical doula care resonated with my own doula practice.
I’m excited to be able to offer my first Full-Spectrum Doula training in May. You can learn more about it here.
Doula work is a form of social justice. Evidence shows when a doula is present with someone during any stage of their reproductive health journey, they have better health outcomes. This includes better birth outcomes, fewer interventions, better postpartum health, and fewer incidences of Postpartum Mood Disorders. A doula provides emotional, physical, and educational support to the communities they serve and act as a public health intervention. In marginalized communities where we see higher rates of health complications during pregnancy, birth, and recovery, having access to a doula is vital.
For my doula training in May, I would like to offer a few scholarships for new doulas who wish to serve their communities. This will be feasible through donations from our community.
My goal is $3200 to pay for:
Licensing Fee to DTI for the use of the curriculum
Membership to DTI for the new doulas
Full-Spectrum Doula Training for scholarship recipients
One-year of mentorship for scholarship recipients
The first training I will be offering is May 20-23, 2021, in Greensboro, NC. All donations will go directly towards the Full-Spectrum doula training scholarship recipients.
